About Me

Harry A. Yan is a software engineer with over five years of experience. He was born and raised in Burma, now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and currently works in London, UK. Over the years, he's built all kinds of apps across different platforms from Kubernetes and backend to frontend, Android, and iOS. Right now, he's mainly focused on platform engineering, system architecture, and software delivery.

When he's not coding, Harry enjoys tinkering with gas engines in his backyard, spending time with his girlfriend, playing songs together, eating the meals she cooks, and heading out for a relaxing day of fishing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why HTML and CSS? A: Because I'm just blogging, not building a portfolio with 3D animations and NextJS to impress interviewers :D
Q: Why the old-ass design? A: I grew up browsing the Java Home Page, installing RHEL from CDs, and playing Pac-Man. This is my little dose of nostalgia to relive those moments.
Q: Favorite programming language? A: Depends on the day. Some days it's Go, other days it's "whatever compiles". Tho I tend to avoid dynamically typed languages as much as I could.
Q: Who's on your playlist? A: A mix of Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, and Burmese Lofi. But definitely not Justin Bieber.
Q: Favorite soccer club? A: Liverpool FC. Period. You'll Never Walk Alone.
Q: Any advice for juniors? A: Be patient. Don't go too hard on yourselves. And work smart. Consistency will get you results.
